Why food waste is a major issue & what you can do to help!

This resulted in over £15 billion worth of food being binned in the UK in 2015 alone! Fruits and veg have the highest wastage rates. Every year, consumers in rich countries waste almost as much food as is produced in sub-Saharan Africa. If these figures shock you, they should! As you can see from the below graph this date has been moving steadily forward since 1971. In just under 50 years earth overshoot day has jumped from December 21 to August 2nd.
